Alwine is not a made-up name. Alwine was a Brandenburger through and through. She spent as much time as possible surrounded by forests and meadows. In her garden, she grew fruit and vegetables, harvested and preserved them, and made her own jams. Living with the rhythm of the seasons came naturally to her. In summer, she brought berries home from the forests; in autumn, mushrooms. And she always made sure there were preserves for the winter.
